Murratte's Writing Slope

This writing slope is made from cooked birds eye maple, with maple spline in the lid, I veneered cherry to the bottom, on both sides of a piece of hard board and my wife's hand died material for the underside of the lid. I haven't been able to build much this past year because of working on the "Farm" and it was nice to just get into the shop and create.

An Old School Laptop

I was calling it the original lap top but June called it an old school laptop, a little more fitting I think. June Cable is a Fibre Artist, ‘The Wizard of Felt’ (http://www.wizardoffelt.com/ http://wizardoffelt.blogspot.com/) and a friend of my wife. This laptop/writing slope was made from cooked curley maple and the inside is lined my wife’s hand died material. The corner wedges are hard maple, it’s finished with 5 coats of polyurethane, sanded with 1200 grit paper and finally with bees wax polish.

Recycling Mahogany

It is made for recycled mahogany, that was our window valance, some of it has been reworked and here is the result. I originally made this writing slope for myself but my brother-in-law was visiting with his girlfriend and she liked it, so I gave it to her.

As I gave the first one away I decided to make myself another, plus one more just in case, you never know. It gives me a place to to put down some ideas, designs, draw up new trucks or box designs and if I get creative maybe a piece of furniture or two. Besides this is the last of the old window valance.



A witing slop for my Mother.

I made my Mother this writing slop, it’s made from cooked curley maple or tiger maple as some call it. The cloth on the inside lid is my wife’s work, she had some very nice died material I could use and I know my Mother likes a bit of green.
